GOAN SOCCER WORLD CUP And WORLD CUP DINNER-DANCE

The first ever Goan Soccer World Cup is being held from January 9 to January 22, 2000 in Goa.

Eight Goan teams, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, U.A.E., Qatar, Bahrain, India and Goa have already confirmed their participation. Karachi Goans are very eager to compete and will certainly do so if the present dark clouds of politics are driven away by the winds of time.

Canada Goans are on the point of confirming their entry and hopefully the USA and UK Goans will follow. Attempts are being made to see that Goans from Portugal, Brazil and East Africa take their rightful place with their other Goan brethren on January 9.

During the two weeks of the tournament, there will be discussions/seminars on ways and means to improve sports in Goa and for establishing an International Goan Sports Federation.

Daily evening entertainment has been planned for the players and thousands of their supporters who will be here to cheer their respective teams. Funfair, Mando Festival, Goan Dance Festival, River Cruises, Moonlight picnics and many more activities are on the anvil, but the pièce de résistance will be the World Cup Dinner-Dance to be held on Sunday January 16, 2000 at the impressive Cotta Mansion, Agacaim. Limited to the first 1,000 persons, it will have a “Carnival in Goa” theme with authentic Goan -Portuguese cuisine, unlimited food and drink and Goa’s topmost band, “The Alcatrazz”, to keep you in high spirits till the early hours of the morning! All for £ 15 per person!
