Malta's Justice Minister at a Press Conference claimed that there was no option but to deport the murder suspect to Egypt. Two officers from Scotland Yard's Racial and Violent Crime Task Force flew to Malta after taking on the case. The Maltese Parliament heard a plan for the Edgar Fernandes controversy to be used to push for the drawing up of an international convention providing for the setting up of regional courts for suspects wanted for murder by countries with the death penalty ... Pamela Hansen in an editorial wrote " there is nothing they ( Edgar's family) can do. You are offered sympathy but no solution. You might think this sounds like a BBC television drama. Unfortunately, the Fernandes family are living through the drama." He is trying to find a solution modelled on the Lockerbie case where the trial of the two Libyans accused of the bombings is held in a neutral country.
