"To Dis Udelo", the Konkani film by Bonifacio Dias has won nine nominations for the Goa Film Festival to be held on July 8.

Twenty-year-old Rekha Nelkar died of burn injuries in Goa Medical College on June 24 after a stove burst Rekha was married just one-and-half-years ago and became yet another victim of the notorious stove-bursts in Goa's kitchens. The stoves seem to burst selectively, and frequently, on young brides within a short span of their marriage.

At a Goa meeting to oppose the wearing of helmets by two-wheeler riders, it was claimed that helmets cut off air supply to the upper part of the head of the rider and can raise blood pressure, leading to irritation, headache, giddiness and the loss of hair.
