BEREAVEMENT

Mr Severino Fernandes, father of goanet-uk editor, Eddie Fernandes, passed away at Panjim on August 27, 2000. Eddie & Lira are in Goa to attend the funeral which took place at Ribandar on Wednesday 30th August 2000.

FLIGHT CORNER

It is reported that there is a shortage of UK-Goa charter seats due to the withdrawal of all Britannia Airways flights. Many dates are now full. Christmas / New Year flights filled up some weeks ago. Late availability will be very limited so early booking is advised. A future issue of the newsletter will carry a free listing of agents offering flights to Goa.

The Health department claims that there is a steep decline (over 50%), in the cases of malaria as compared to last year, but the fatal plasmodium falciparum strain has not been wiped out altogether.

Goanet was six years old last week, on August 25 th . A big thank you to HERMAN CARNEIRO (ex Nairobi) for founding it.
