The hearing of the gang-rape case of British national Joleen
Sketchley, came up on July 4 in Panjim and it was decided to proceed
with the trial. The case was adjourned to July 23.

THE two mobile telephone operators in Goa, Birla-Tata-AT&T
and BPL announced last week that they are to merge.

Children's Rights in Goa (CRG) has condemned Mapusa Municipal
Council workers who beat boys and girls selling plastic bags in
the market and then stripped them of their clothes and locked

28 Jun. Evening Herald (Plymouth). Retired ambulanceman Colin
Russell and his wife, Susan, took an electronic resuscitation
dummy to Goa as many people drown needlessly in Goa's seas each
year. Colin helped train Goa's Lions, doctors and nurses in simple
resuscitation techniques, and lectured 2,500 local schoolchildren
in one week. He also initiated a scheme for lifebelts to be sponsored
