COMMUNITY NEWS

DONATIONS APPEAL: It is proving increasingly difficult for me to cope with the work and absorb all costs of producing this newsletter. Enquiries from around the world for information have to be dealt with. Surfing the Internet for news and following leads to establish if some of the people named are Goan is very time consuming. Dealing with subscription requests, changes of e-mail addresses, restricting organisers of events to 50 words and coping with changes to submitted text adds to the pressure. It is your appreciation of the service that has sustained me for three years but now I need to hire (in Goa) part-time help. I also propose to enhance the service with a website offering a range of facilities. The services will remain free and without advertising. I therefore invite UK Goans and the UK Goan Associations to make a donation - £10 is the suggested annual amount from individuals. Associations can use their discretion depending on the use made of the services. Cheques, made payable to E. Fernandes may be sent to me at 1 Onslow Gardens, London N10 3JT or handed in at the GoaNet-UK stall at the 4 Aug. UK Goan Festival. All contributions will be acknowledged in the newsletter unless you indicate otherwise.
