From Glyn Albuquerque, GOAN Hockey Club (London). We currently run 2 Men’s Hockey Teams, both playing in the Surrey Hockey League. As one of our Goal Keeper’s has retired, we are desperately looking for a new Goal Keeper for the new season (all equipment will be provided). We are currently the only sporting section within the GOA that has been actively playing League Hockey for over 25 years in London, & we aim to see this continue for many more years.
Both of our teams play in competitive leagues (Astroturf) & offer a friendly atmosphere with plenty of socialising after the matches. The season begins on Saturday September 6th. We are always on the look out for new members, so if anyone is interested in playing, Please contact Glyn Albuquerque (020 8 680 2401). So if you are a Hockey Player & proud to be a Goan, come & join us

From Dave Futers: A new project is starting in Goa to test how low end computers and open source software can be used in village schools to ensure that computer education is available to all. Funded by the World Bank after extensive negotiations lasting over a year the project has now had its first project meeting.
Work will start in earnest during September and the project lasts for one year. It will employ three local people from Goa. One village school will benefit from a computer lab.
The project could be extended to other schools providing funding can be raised. If you are interested get on touch with me at david@futers.org
The most interesting point with this project is that it was designed in Goa, funding was obtained by the project champions in Goa and it will be delivered in Goa.
