From Alvaro Collaco: Two Goa Government programmes
The Government of Goa, through the Department of NRI Affairs, has launched two schemes for the Goan diaspora youth. Under the first it invites applications from Goan youth aged between 18 to 28 years to participate in the KNOW GOA PROGRAMME under which 12 youths worldwide will be selected to tour Goa and a neighbouring State between 30 November and 14 December 2009. Applicants will have distinguished themselves in some community activity and must NOT be Indian citizens. Selected applicants can expect all their travel, accommodation and meals expenses to be paid. Closing date for receipt of applications is 15 September.

Under a GOA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME a total of six children of Goan Persons of Indian Origin and of NRI's of Goan origin, will be assisted to undertake undergraduate studies in professional and general courses offered in 2009/10 by institutions affiliated to the Goa University or the Goa Board of Technical Education. The scholarships will cover 75% of the tuition fee up to a maximum of Rs.40,000/ per student per annum. Applicants will be required to appear for a written test on 12 October 2009. Closing date for receipt of applications is 30 September 2009.
