4 Oct: The News of the World (UK). … There's a place where children are beaten,
abused and left to survive in makeshift camps on rubbish dumps… While tourists
sunbathe on Goa's famous white beaches, street children raid the restaurant bins
for scraps of food and scavenge rubbish... UK-based charity El Shaddai hopes to
rescue as many of these children as it can… It was founded in 1996 by Anita
Edgar, a nurse from Devon together with local Goan pastor Matthew Kurian …
El Shaddai currently has more than 2,000 children in its care, in Goa … To
