A: Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary, usually as part of a day tour also taking in Old Goa and Dudhsagar Falls. And Divar Island is a little-visited treat that's lovely to explore by bicycle. Readers' suggestions are welcome.

When Goa was liberated in 1961, its population was just six lakh. As per the 2001 census, Goa has a population of 14.5 lakh.
