as immigrants in the summer of '69… my father had been to elementary schools
in India, college in Nairobi (his birthplace), completed his doctorate in Wales
… my mother completed her own studies in Reading, England, after growing
up in Mombasa … My parents achieved more by their late twenties than we,
their four children, will likely accomplish in our whole lives… My grandparents
had set out from their native Goa to find opportunity in Uganda and Kenya…
