India who laboured first on the Konkan coast and then became the great Apostle
of Ceylon. Born at Sancoale on April 21, 1651, from a young age his devotion and
kindness was seen to one and all… Blessed Joseph Vaz died on 16th January
1711 and was beatified at Colombo in 1995. His feast is celebrated on the 16th
of January in Goa with great pomp, especially by the parishioners of Sancoale.
