Desmond Coutinho: Activists fight over 11-year hunger striker

Irom Sharmila hasn't willingly ingested food or water for 11 years, in protest of a law granting legal immunity to the armed forces for human rights abuses… The object of her more temporal love, Desmond Coutinho, 48. Zanzibar: Flogged and Detained, Wolfango Dourado feels the pressure

Looking Back: Wolfango Dourado, a former Attorney General of Zanzibar was arrested by Tanzanian security in 1984 … On another occasion Dourado was flogged … Aged 54 at the time of his detention, Dourado suffered chronic psoriasis, a skin complaint caused by stress.
