Death: Agnes Almeida (neé Pinto)

21 Feb: London. AGNES ALMEIDA Ex. Mombasa. Greatly missed by her husband Tim, sister Rita, brother Elias, sisters-in-law Elita and Melina, and all their families. Funeral will be held on Friday 13th March 2015 at 11.30am at Sacred Heart Church, Edge Hill, London SW19 4LU. Burial to follow at Merton and Sutton Joint Cemetery, Garth Road, Morden SM4 4NW. It was Agnes' wish that in place of floral tributes, donations be made to Great Ormond Street Hospital. Security tightened at New Delhi churches after attacks 25 Feb: Reuters. The Indian government said on Wednesday it had boosted security around hundreds of churches in New Delhi after a spate of attacks on religious institutions unnerved minority Christians. As Goa gets hotter, so do the air fares
25 Feb: Times of India. Air fares into and out of Goa are priced at an all-time low for the upcoming summer months. Flight fares connecting Goa to Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata cost at least 1,000 to 2,000 lower than the previous seasons. The return journey to Goa from Bengaluru now costs less than 5,000 from March to May. A return trip from Mumbai costs 4,500 during the summer months. A one-way journey from Chennai to Goa by air is priced nearly as much as a bus ticket at 3,200…  click here

Threatened by land sharks

The tranquil and serene village of Socorro in Bardez, is fast seeing its pristine countryside vanishing and being replaced by ugly chunks of concrete; huge apartment complexes that stick out like sore thumbs in quaint neighbourhoods… The threat to Socorro comes from the real estate lobby which has caused encroachments on comunidade land, felling of trees, erection of slums in private forests and land grabbing, either by filing false cases against villagers or blatantly taking over unoccupied houses, whose residents are abroad… A year ago, Socorro was in the news when a property of the former captain of India's woman hockey team, Otilia Mascarenhas, was grabbed by land sharks… 1580 words.  click here

Fun times at two annual Food And Wine Classic festivals near New Zealand's fabulous Hawke's Bay are no secret… Born in Goa, Francky Godinho, 36, owner of St. George's Restaurant in Hawke's Bay since 2012, told me: "My mom was an excellent cook ... My family were excellent farmers and I had green fingertips."
