21 Aug: Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. ELIZABETH (ELIZA) PELAGIA FERNANDES. Elizabeth was the youngest daughter of the Late Caetano & Paskina Fernandes of Goan Restaurant Dar-es-Salaam Tanzania. A dear and loving sister to the Late Piedade Fernandes, Rosy & (Late Francis) Miranda (Canada), Philomena & ( Late Justin) D’Souza (Canada), Domitilla Fernandes (Canada), Agnelo & Mary Fernandes (Tanzania), Joseph & Jolcy Fernandes (Tanzania). UK-based Goenkars seek to link Goan business, professionals

In Goa and in the rest of the country, the menace posed by stray animals is going out of hand… These animals are seen squatting on streets and blocking roads and traffic almost 24x7. Also, in the absence of a proper waste management system, the number of stray dogs, cats and cattle are on the rise in India… The 2012 census showed 16,325 stray dogs and 7,183 stray cattle in the state and the number of all strays must have gone up to 35,000 now, given the 10 per cent increase annually…  click here

'Healthcare at a price in Goa’

Healthcare in Goa doesn't come cheap especially when compared to other states in the country according to a latest report, 'Key indicators of social consumption in India- Health' published by the National Sample Survey Office, ministry of statistics and programme. When the average total medical expenditure for treatment per child birth during stay in hospital (as in patient) was calculated throughout India, Goa was found to have the third highest average of Rs 4,814 for treatment, per case at a public hospital and Rs 24,757 at a private hospital when rural households were surveyed…  click here

Speaking to the media after inaugurating the Moot Court hall of the Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law, Margao, Bombay High Court Chief Justice Mohit Shah reportedly said that Goa does not need an independent High Court. He said that an independent High Court for a small State like Goa, which handles less than 5,000 cases, would only lead to a disadvantage, because it would lose the benefit of having Judges from Mumbai, Nagpur and Aurangabad…  click here
