Video: Canada: Calgary Catholic pastor placed on leave over alleged sexual misconduct

29 Oct: The Canadian Press. A Catholic pastor who worked at a number of parishes in southern Alberta has been placed on administrative leave over allegations of sexual misconduct involving two minors and several adults. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Calgary says in a statement that the misconduct allegedly occurred at St. Mark's Parish in Calgary while Fr. Malcolm D'Souza was pastor there from 2010 to 2016. The diocese says D'Souza has been removed from his current posting at the parishes of St. Bernard's and Assumption in Calgary… Anyone with information about the allegations is being encouraged by the church to call police or the diocese… 1m. 54s.  click here

Editorial: Prevent Fraudulent Transfer of Properties

30 Oct: Navhind Times. The state government has notified new rules for transfer of properties by a widow, living inside or outside the state, making it mandatory for her to produce a certificate issued by deputy collector after affirming that she was transferring her property rights at her free will… The directions were issued by the apex court after it was brought to their notice that widows were made to part with the properties by using threat and force… There have been many cases of properties belonging to Goans, including widows, being transferred by unscrupulous elements… While sale and transfer of properties cannot be stopped, the state could consider changing the law to prevent fraudulent sale of properties and make transfer of property rights more stringent. 760 words.  click here

Parrikar emerges, chairs IPB meet

31 Oct: The Goan. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar chaired his first official meeting since being discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, albeit at his private residence in Dona Paula chairing a ‘continued’ meeting of the Investment Promotion Board on Tuesday. A photograph released by the Chief Minister’s office showed a feeble Parrikar held up by cushions as he slumped on a couch while other members of the Investment Promotion Board sat at some distance discussing projects… Speaking to reporters after emerging from the meeting, Minister of Information Technology and vice chairman of the IPB Rohan Khaunte said that the Chief Minister was ‘very good’…  click here

And if satisfied with the performance, besides taking the audience pulse, he picks them up for shows overseas. Gonsalves was instrumental in staging Lorna’s musical shows abroad and he received a good audience response.
