The heart of Catholic India is in the state of Goa

13 Jan: Aleteia (Rome). Goa became Catholic by way of Portuguese missionaries, but it also has a Christian history stretching back to Apostolic times. St. Thomas the Apostle is known as a great evangelizer of India, but another Apostle, St. Bartholomew, is also credited in bringing the Gospel to the subcontinent. It is believed that Bartholomew reached the Konkan Coast in the 1st century… But it wasn’t until after Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama visited the west coast of India in 1498 that widespread evangelization got underway … Goa today has a reputation as a small place that has produced many priests and bishops in the Church… Goa’s abundant priestly vocations stem in part from the practice of families in the region traditionally “offering one child to God.” … Goans have emigrated to many parts of the world, and often bring their faith and religious customs with them…  click here

FOHO.Haus brings fractional ownership of real-estate to Goa

11 Nov. 2019. The Goan. A Canadian company called ‘FOHO.Haus’, which is promoted by a Goan origin entrepreneur, Vijay Thomas, has recently introduced the concept of fractional ownership of real-estate to people in Goa and other parts of India. Now, people can buy a share in the second home in Goa by paying a fraction of the price of the property. The company thinks that fractional ownership of real-estate can revolutionize the second-home market in India … there are many Goans, who have a second home in the State, but they live in Mumbai or Delhi or out of India. They hardly spend time in Goa and don’t even let it out. In such a case, they have made a bad investment. A lot of people, who spend 3-4 weeks every year in Goa. Rather than buying a second home, they can buy a fraction of ownership in that home, which allows them to stay in it for 3-4 weeks… 1024 words.  click here

The slowing down of Goa’s economy in 2019-20

13 Jan: Navhind Times. Giving a setback to the government’s ambition of making the Indian economy US 5 trillion by 2024-25, advance forecast released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) indicates that the economy is projected to grow five per cent in the current year 2019-20. Maintaining dignity in tourism trade

13 Jan: The Goan. These days tourism as a generalised term seems to have pervaded every aspect of life. But it is difficult to imagine sex tourism universally topping the charts as compared to the other modes. the ‘sex’ factor has time-and-again come to haunt Goa! As Goa continues to be plagued by the proliferation of illegal massage parlours doubling up as whore joints, prostitution has been flourishing in the state as never before… Meanwhile, the ‘phoren’ craze of the customers has been amply fulfilled by a number of foreign cartels operating their crime syndicates along the coastal belts in Goa…  click here

Agatha Christie’s ‘The Mirror Crack’d’ Unfolds In Goa

13 Jan: Book My Show. A beautiful actress hosts a dinner party at her palatial villa. It’s glamorous, well-attended…and ends with murder. If this sounds like the plot of an Agatha Christie novel, it’s because it’s the story of her novel The Mirror Crack’d from Side to Side. On Sunday, January 30, the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA), Mumbai, will stage an English adaptation of the book … Writer Ayeesha Menon has reimagined the play for the Indian audience…  click here
