Bad news: British charters not to land in Goa till mid-Dec

3 Oct: Herald. In a major setback for Goa’s tourism industry, British charters will not be flying to the State this season owing to rapid increase in COVID-19 cases. If the situation prevails, stakeholders apprehend that Russian charter tourists might also hold back their entry into Goa and instead route to other countries. TUI Airways, the only company bringing in UK tourists to Goa, has decided to cancel holidays from the origin country, at least till mid-December 2020…TUI’s letter to the Goa government informs that the group has cancelled their package travel programmes to Goa up to and including December 18, 2020…  click here

An unfinished culinary project by Floyd Cardoz - the celebrated restaurateur and chef who died in March due to complications from COVID-19 - is now being carried forward by his family and friends. That project, a line of spice blends with NYC shop Burlap and Barrel, launches on Sunday courtesy of a partnership between Burlap and Barrel co-founder Ethan Frisch and Cardoz's wife, chef Barkha Cardoz. Goa’s Senior Citizens feel insecure on International Day of Older Persons

2 Oct: Herald. On the International Day of Older Persons, also known as World Elders Day, the senior citizens of Goa are the ones who are feeling the most insecure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as they are in the ‘high-risk’ category by virtue of their age. That aside, they feel unprotected and that not enough has been done to address their concerns. Even from a general point view, they feel that there are not enough efforts from the government to improve the conditions of the lives and provide them with adequate facilities and assistance. While the entire country has an average of 7% of senior citizens in their population Goa has the highest i.e. 12% of senior citizens in the entire population…  click here

Goa: Father batters daughter to death over affair with married man

3 Oct: Navhind Times. A 20-year-old woman, who was a native of Uttar Pradesh and residing in Sankhali, died Friday after her father assaulted her with a cricket stump at her residence on October 1. Police have arrested the accused Sunilkumar (46). According to them the deceased was having an affair with a married man. Police said the deceased's father assaulted his daughter with a cricket stump several times on Thursday to prevent her from meeting the married man. Following the assault, the daughter sustained major body injuries after which she was rushed to the Sankhali community health centre where she succumbed to her injuries while undergoing …  click here

He and his wife Yogita Mehra left Mumbai for Sukur, a village near Porvorim in north Goa, started an organic farm and, in 2006, an organic farming consultancy. As the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) continues its investigation in the drug angle related to Sushant Singh Rajput death's and the alleged drug nexus in Bollywood, Republic Media Network's SIT has revealed that several A-listers visit Goa for 'detox' purposes… Republic stung a caretaker of a 'special' villa where the celebs visit through 'an agent' so that the details of their visit is not publicly revealed… the four actors summoned so far - Deepika, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh - appear to all have 'read from the same script', sources said … All four have claimed that 'hash isn't a drug', while two have also tried to claim that the NCB isn't versed with 'Bollywood English'…  click here
