Congratulations to Fred Noronha who has been awarded a Panos Fellowship. This entitles him to travel and research extensively on reproductive health issues. Panos Institute has its Headquarters in UK and works to stimulate debate on sustainable development, environment and health issues.

The Goa government has stated that no hawkers will be allowed on the beaches from the forthcoming tourist season. Toilets will be provided and garbage collection organised.

Goa has been fortunate this year not to have any seasonal epidemics, except malaria. Generally, it is prone to epidemics like dysentery or diarrhoea at the beginning of the monsoon.

Joseph Rodrigues, 12, who serves at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Cambridge Park Road, Wanstead, was walking past a candle near the altar when the ceremonial robe he was wearing caught fire. He was flown by air ambulance to the City of Westminster hospital where he was treated for minor burns and released.
