The UK Goan Hockey team lost against Reigate Priory 1-2 last Sat. but finished the season in a very creditable 4th position (out of 12) in the First Division. (Played 22; Won 12; Drew 4; Lost 6). Congratulations to Glyn Albuquerque and the team!

Letter from Gerard Colaco, South-West London in The People 24 Mar.: As a first-generation Asian immigrant who came here in 1972 aged five, I can say there is no other country in the world more tolerant and accepting than Britain. I am proud and feel fortunate to benefit from my dual heritage and, like you, I will fly the Union Jack on the Queen's Jubilee for the same reasons. Political correctness causes problems where none exist. [Gerard is ex-Nairobi].

After India, Africa and New York (where he was an advertising guru), Michael D'Souza arrived in London four years ago to set up a Store, (Mufti, 789 Fulham Road, Tel 020 7610 9123), specialising in domestic interiors. The Scotsman Magazine, 23 Mar. has a two page spread about him. Click here to see, (you will have to register but it is free): The Store has a mail order website. See: http://www.mufti.co.uk/ In the living room section, for example, you will see Planter chairs at £550. These typical deep Goan cane lounger chairs with extendible arms to put one's feet on were quite the rage in the days of the Raj and earned the nickname of the Bombay Fornicator!
