COMMUNITY NEWS

Morel D’Souza (ex Nairobi), is Mayor Elect of Maidstone and takes office on 14 May 2003. We offer him our Congratulations as UK's first Goan Mayor. You can write to him at moreldsouza@maidstone.gov.uk. As Mayor, one of the charities he will support is the Aylesford Priory in Kent which is run by Carmelite priests. He needs your help for the event he is hosting there on Sunday 15th June 2003. Morel is also planning an event called the MAIDSTONE MELA on Sunday 14th September 2003 which will be a celebration of diverse cultures. He is hoping the Goan community at large will participate in this event as well. As a Goan, Morel would like to have his Community represented on the day. The event will take place in Maidstone's largest park, Mote Park and will have various stalls including food. There will be an arena in the centre where cultural and other activities will take place. Hopefully it will be a fun day and as an International event should be an enjoyable one too! Mark the dates in your diaries! For Morel’s bio data and photograph of his family, click here........
