Once again this tournament
proved to be a popular event with over 25 players turning
up from places as far as Southend & the Essex Border.
The random doubles pairings were put into
groups of three with each pair playing their opponents with
the highest points total from three boards advancing to
the latter rounds.
The initial rounds were all keenly contested
but eventually the more experienced players rose to the
top.The finals proved to be an exciting affair. It was between
Proto Carvalho and Viju Desouza against the powerful Marciano
Desouza & Vivian Coutinho.
The latter took the first set . But then
Proto and Viju fought back to clinch the second set and
also took the lead on points.. In the final set , Proto&
Viju took control once again with Proto executing some skilful
strikes by pocketing 5 coins in a row to clinch the set
and a well deserved win.
The GOA Sports Director Lazarus Rato proposed a vote of
thanks and the trophies were presented by Yvonne Coutinho,
a former GOA Ladies Champion.
