GOANET HIGHLIGHTS by Cornel DaCosta

Do read much warm outpouring for the International Film Festival (IFFI) in Goa 2007 by Kabir Bedi, India's popular international actor. His long interview with Christina Viegas can be summed up in his words that, he could kill for a Sorpotel and that he absolutely loves Feni. There is so much news about the films shown at the IFFI 2007 and hopefully, a summary may be available next week.

There is an excellent account by Miguel Braganza titled GBA celebrated its First Anniversary. Briefly, we are told how the Goa Bachao Abhiyan (GBA) or Save Goa Campaign, a People's Movement, compelled the Goa Government to revoke the Regional Plan 2011 and to replace it with a new Regional Plan with the people's participation. Personally, I salute Miguel Braganza and his colleagues for being so resolute on the Save Goa Campaign and for keeping those in the Goan Diaspora, so well informed about the progress made by the Movement.

For film buffs and others currently in Goa, there is news that old Bollywood posters are for sale in Goa. These stem from a collection by Italian Ciancia and his Polish-English wife Greta Wilkinson. Their enthusiasm for such posters is vividly presented in a detailed Goanet article titled Old Bollywood for Sale in Goa.

Which is the greater influence on the child? Is it nature or nurture? The role of parents in the development of offspring is examined quite analytically on Goanet and there are many insights offered by a number of posters.

Radio Goa is featured well on Goanet. This is a new development broadcasting Konkani hits 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For those particularly interested in this venture, please visit http://www.radiogoa.net

Finally here is a plea from Nelly Pereira. She asks, "can somebody please let me know if any Konkani Karaoke DVDs/chips are available in the market, especially the olden golden songs?"
