The house listing data of the Census of India 2011, for Goa state pointed out as large as 20% of the households in Goa have no latrine facility within the premises with 16% of them having no facility of even public toilets… the total number of houses in Goa numbers 576,582 of which 22% are vacant … only 31.1 per cent households have radio, while whopping 81 per cent households possess television sets … Finally, 18 per cent households have computers without Internet, while 13 per cent have them with internet facility… 900 words.  click here

30 Mar: Daily Post (Wales). A CARE home boss faces a four-month wait before a medical panel will deliver a verdict on her alleged misconduct. For more than two years, Marie Eva Lourdes Mascarenhas has been the subject of a fitness to practise investigation by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)… Mascarenhas' legal team argued her free holistic treatments had improved the patients' quality of life and she was "highly respected" by GPs as well as her residents and families. After reading the tragic story of Trayvon Martin of Florida, who was shot and killed by a self-appointed neighborhood watcher, I was reminded of when in Goa. I was also detained, interrogated and harassed by armed men, simply for walking while white, blonde and female. I was able to escape by paying a hefty bribe. Goa: Israeli convict seeks to aid CBI police-drug mafia nexus probe

Yeir Lavon, an Israeli undergoing a prison term at Aguada jail for drug possession, has written to the CBI offering himself as a witness in the Goa police-drug mafia nexus case … Lavon, in his letter, states that the police officers "involved in my case are also involved in falsely implicating foreigners by planting drugs on them, extorting money from them saying that they will be implicated falsely in drugs' cases if their demands are not met" …  click here

30 Mar: Times of India. Chief minister Manohar Parrikar has acknowledged that there were many irregularities in the PWD.
