African nationals block national highway in Goa

31 Oct: IANS. Over 200 African nationals blocked the NH 17 at Porvorim, five km from Panjim capital city, for nearly an hour on Thursday. They were trying to take away the body of a Nigerian, found murdered earlier on Thursday, from an ambulance carrying it… two companies of police personnel were rushed to the spot … The body was found near the residence of local legislator Michael Lobo, who said his constituency was a victim of a drug war and that the murder was linked to narcotics trade…  click here

Nigerian killed in gang war in Goa

Garbage plants' junket raises stink

Deputy chief minister Francis D'Souza will lead a 37-member delegation to Italy, Austria and Germany, to observe the functioning of their solid waste management plants, as the state plans to set up two such plants at Cacora and Calangute. Old-Goa-based high school to lap the joy of traditional games of yore
31 Oct: Times of India. An Old-Goa-based high school is set to expose its students to the flavour of old traditional games at its annual sports that may set new benchmarks for other educational institutions. The spirit of Goa's traditional games is spreading, as the director of Sunshine worldwide school appears to have caught the spark of it in recent events held in Socorro, Loutolim, Benaulim, Carmona and other places… Traditional games will dominate the second session of the school sports day "We will have a few old games such as langdi, logorio and cock fights, besides kabaddi, tennicoit and other games during this session," Sanjay Narute, physical education teacher said…  click here
