Ileana D'Cruz opens up: Of films, depression, marriage and pregnancy

15 Jun: Times of India. She was all of 18 when her acting career took off, landing her in the cobweb of celebrityhood. But actress Ileana D'Cruz has managed to escape it her way - by prioritising family over work, maintaining a slow pace, conquering depression that stemmed from superficial judgments by faceless people, and ignoring constant rumours about her marriage and pregnancy. "I'm not pregnant. In fact, I would have been super happy if I was. It's something I have always wanted. But there's still time. I still don't want to become pregnant yet," Ileana told in an interview during her Fiji sojourn as brand ambassador, laughing off rumours. There was a hullabaloo when she used "hubby" for her Australian photographer beau Andrew Kneebone on social media, leaving fans and the media playing the guessing game on her marital status. "It's not important for me (to tell the world if I'm married or not)," said the 31-year-old actress with Goan roots…  click here

Return to Goa

14 Jun: Publico (Portugal). By Renato Epifânio, President of MIL: International Lusophone Movement (Photo) ... A return, certainly, bittersweet. This historical memory is gradually erasing, and if this inertia and erosion is maintained, in a few decades there will be almost nothing left. There is not much left. More than half a century after the annexation, India continues to want to "indianize" Goa, not realizing that it would be in its own interest for Goa to maintain its relative uniqueness, as China has long realized in the case of Macao … We saw dozens of young people in Portuguese classes. Were it not for this adverse environment, spread by the Indian authorities themselves, these tens would be hundreds if not thousands… More than half a century after the annexation, there is no one in Portugal who seriously intends to question the status of Goa. As long as there is India, Goa will then become part of India… There is an overriding purpose of making Hinduism the only religion of reference in the country, thus making Catholics and Muslims "foreigners"…  click here

Lefties throw Counter Tiger

16 Jun: Jornal de Negocios (Portugal) The Canhoto family is back with one of the most beautiful pieces left in their workshop in recent years. True craftsmen of the world elite in the chapter of period furniture, as has been repeatedly pointed out on this page, with respect and respect, the Canhoto have their great inspiration in Indo-Portuguese furniture from the XVI to XVIII centuries, when our wood art gave letters and drew sighs of desire and possession all over the world… The work with a signed edition limited to 10 pieces was named Tiger because it is inspired by Indo-Portuguese furniture designed in Goa from the 16th century. With three secrets and a secret drawer, the Tiger reproduces various figures of Hindu mythology on its entire surface, as well as the animal that gives it its name, which was the noblest of the region at the time. It was created with woods of origin of teak and pau-santo, but also with cone and ivory, besides velvet in the interiors. The first public appearance of Contador Tigre will be at the International Craft Fair in Lisbon, held in June, but a visit to Atelier Canhoto, near Mafra, is advisable because the pieces tend to be sold quickly…  click here

Portugal awakens football in Goa

16 Jun: Navhind Times. Goa waited for Portugal to join the World Cup party and they needed to wait for three minutes to get cheering as Ronaldo helped his team score the fastest goal of the tournament- so far. After a damp opener, Goa appeared to be getting back to its old World Cup days with men, women and children venturing out to meet in clubs, restaurants and hotels. “It is too early to expect the people to come out. You see the crowd here because Portugal is playing. There was hardly anyone yesterday. I expect a crowd when Brazil plays too but Portugal is everyone’s favourite,” said Napoleon Fernandes…  click here
