Mother/Mother-in-law of Alex (Joseph / Avina (UK). Sister/sister-in-law of late Piedade/Fatima, Minguel / Socorina, late Aurellano (Aloo) / late Paullna. Expired peacefully. The burial service is at 14.00 (2.00 pm) on 7 May 2020, at Canley Crematorium Coventry CV47DF. Due to Covid 19 Relatives and Friends are kindly requested not to attend this burial service. Corona threat looms over Goa

7 May: Navhind Times. Despite the fact that the Union Health Ministry has declared both districts in Goa as ‘green zones’, with the influx of people particularly from the neighbouring states, the coronavirus (COVID-19) threat continues in Goa. Hundreds of people are entering the state and the number is only going to increase with each day, as a result of which, the risk looms and there is a high possibility that the state may see further positive cases of the dreaded virus. “Yes, we can say Goa is safe…but definitely not 100 per cent. Air India now offering India to UK flights

6 May: GOV.UK – FCO. … The Government of India has announced a series of repatriation flights under its ‘Vande Bharat’ mission, to return Indians to India. Seven of these flights will be from the UK. The Indian Government has announced that travellers in India wishing to return to the UK will also be able to book seats on the outbound flights from India to the UK. The flights will commence on May 8th and run until May 15th, departing from Delhi and Mumbai. Eligibility: The flights will be open to British Nationals, British Residents and those with long term UK visas. How to book: Air India is managing the booking process for these flights. Lockdown: 4,000 Goans from 65 countries seek to return home

6 May: Business Insider. At least 4,000 Goans from 65 countries have registered themselves on the Goa NRI Commission's portal to come back to the country amid the coronavirus-enforced lockdown, state NRI Commissioner Narendra Sawaikar said … The Goa NRI Commission has urged the MEA to facilitate immediate repatriation of Goans who are stranded abroad. Sawaikar said Goa does not figure in the first phase of the MEA's repatriation initiative, but its natives are likely to be brought back in the second phase. The 4,000 people who have registered on the portal include a sizable number of students, some who have lost their jobs and some NRIs' parents who are stranded abroad as they had travelled prior to the lockdown…  click here

Asim Chaudhry creates comedy pilot Coming To England

6 May: British Comedy Guide. Asim Chaudhry has piloted a character comedy series for Channel 4. Written by and starring the People Just Do Nothing star, Coming To England follows the lives of three characters trying to make a new life in the UK. Obnoxious Indian billionaire Rupert Khan has settled in London's Mayfair and barks demands at his personal assistant Sasha, played by Tessa Coates (Damned). Another character Chaudhry has showcased on social media, and is believed to also feature, is lovelorn scientist Raj Delgado from Goa. Toronto restaurant owner sues insurance company for COVID-19 losses

6 May: Toronto Star. A Toronto restaurateur and chef is suing his insurance company after it denied his claim for loss of profit because of the COVID-19 pandemic, while a national class-action suit against 10 insurance providers is gaining momentum… Hemant Bhagwani owns multiple restaurants in Toronto, including Fat Rabbit, Goa Indian Farm Kitchen, and Catering Wala, which are named in his lawsuit… Hemant Bhagwani runs the Goa Indian farm kitchen at Bayview Village (North York).
